Encourage students' affective, cognitive and behavioral engagement

Encouraging school engagement means promoting students' active involvement in school and learning activities. To support this engagement, we must first focus on affective engagement, so that emotions influence cognition and, eventually, actions. We must also focus on cognitive engagement, which is nourished by affective engagement (emotions) and contributes to behavioral engagement (actions). The ultimate goal is to support behavioral engagement, which translates into action, and is nourished by affective engagement (emotions), then cognitive engagement (cognitions).
