Managing Emotions and Stress

Emotional and stress management refers to a set of responses and reactions that a young person must develop in order to control, reduce or cope with the disturbances induced by :

  • stressful or difficult situations: exams, injustice, break-up, moving, parental separation;
  • intolerable situations: abuse, violence, intimidation;
  • adversity: mourning, illness, accident.

They must develop a wide repertoire of coping strategies that allow them to react in these various situations. Managing emotions and stress starts with recognizing these states and understanding them.
